Bad Science at SpinWatch

SpinWatch attacked the Keep Libel Laws Out of Science campaign that was formed after Simon Singh was sued by the British Chiropractic Association as a front for Big Pharma. Singh won his case.

SpinWatch defends the bogus ‘science’ of homeopathy (the one with the infinitesimally small doses of medicine), and attacks anyone who criticises it – including the witnesses on the UK government Science and Technology Committee hearing, such as Guardian columnist Dr Ben Goldacre. SpinWatch records that ‘Strangely, no satisfied patients of homeopathy were called to testify before the committee’!

SpinWatch supports the discredited Andrew Wakefield’s campaign against the Measles Mumps Rubella vaccine, even though it led to a marked rise in measles cases. The General Medical Council ruled that Dr Wakefield failed in his duties as a responsible consultant”, acted against the interests of his patients, and acted “dishonestly and irresponsibly” – but despite updating their page on MMR since, SpinWatch has left out the GMC ruling, and the Lancet’s withdrawal of the paper it originally published.
